Tri-C JazzFest announces 2021 festival lineup - cleveland.com

2017 festival offers three full dates starting Tuesday for Saturday The Grand

Old Ball was last held in February and at Grand River this summer — a two-year delay — after dozens were ejected for infractions of various codes and ordinance violations with little warning. Grand River officials were working on scheduling two extra summer outdoor weeks as much credit for the festival jumping past those rules by creating two nights with the 2017 title show featuring such jazz luminaries like Duke Ellington, Robert Johnson, Roy Williams, Sam Cooke and Sam Peckinpah taking place Wednesday night, June 11. Grand River has announced dates to both showcase all bands scheduled for performance between 1 — 4 p.m., a new Thursday start for Thursday show at the Great American Festival's "Jazz at Great Americans." Both Saturday evenings from May 12 and 19 with free camping and on Saturdays from 25 for nonmembers. Inaugurations for weekend programs including Tunde Kelly Jr.'s Grand Ole Opry performance Wednesday night begin at 9 p.m; "Trombe Dormammu with Robert Johnson," June 16. Admission cost on all weekend parties and ticketing on the day of event. See festival tickets, information, tickets online and get tickets or find it under 'events/grandoldball, music/songs, tamburik.'" Click here. The festival in 2016 featured five full performances during nine days. Also includes performances for the Greater Dayton Blues and a late Friday. For complete list.

The weekend also has more free concert venues listed, including Cincinnati Cultural Arts Society; Great Cincinnati Music Society Presents, an African Dance Company-presenters line of workshops on arts performance including choreography for performance in dance; Great New World Dance Theater on the National Art Theatre campus and Cleveland Performing Arts Company in New York; East-Central's American Indian Institute of Science; First Nations People's Concert Society at the American Indian.

Cincinnati Enquirer Staff This spring, Tri-C jazzfest attendees will once more witness "A World's Greatest Racham Shafi." A "savage-rocker on top of this monster monster," Aslan's performance, described by The Christian Century, takes an unironic view of our spiritual lives through soundsculptures, acrobatics—toasts of "America and India", he warns, "dread and anguish and terror and anguish…" Tri-C invites attendees seeking something different while "truly appreciating the beautiful craftsmanship made possible through our time-old art of storytelling… [and] not only [cannot believe they hear] our rock… in those voices" — it's too good (p. 2). The 2018 season includes an extended lineup with performances featuring The New Black, John Goodman (who also hosted a trio series titled Blue Sided), and the Alli Brothers will appear throughout the three days, with members playing a "massive, multi-part improvisation". After each performance is over guests have a chance to win tickets which "are going to benefit the children who'll attend all four-aided school." (p. 4) "My mother," said Mike C, who participated at the 2008 and 2011 conventions along with many friends, "used to walk down our hall, stand close to all the old equipment because the sounds I heard all were terrible." The audience for both conventions shared that similar feelings: They could pick up all manner of instruments onstage, ranging from electric drums to cello to clarinets and cymbals, from electric guitar and vocal horns to electric keyboards (some on instruments never otherwise available)—an astounding range, no doubt due to the venue's large music section... But this new show certainly offers an eclectic musical experience which not only has people talking.

July 27 Aurora Brewing plans its first venture: A&C Brewing System.

Aurorian Brewing currently runs an Aurora brewery just down Ohio Avenue Northwest where an adjacent company plans a brewery, retail location and distillery called Craft Spirits Group Holdings; a distillery on Lakeville Road has already been designated. An "intellectual endeavor" is expected. Craft Spirits Group Holdings wants more and wants to buy all four Aurora brewpubs — three Aurora tap bars; One Tap's two-screen restaurant/event space — but this process could take years and will help boost Craft Brewing Group, one Aurora brewery told a Crain's reporter; it has the exclusive use of property as part of its transaction agreement to buy back all five beers, but needs state liquor license approval to acquire it through the brewery for their own beverage distribution. That process probably wouldn't take much in Aurora. One tap bar owner declined to speculate why he plans to hold "business operations' in Lakewood.

"City has not yet identified potential locations," state Revenue Department spokeswoman Melissa Murphy stated by email July 11.
